Why Bitcoin is Superior to Gold
There is a constant war being fought between goldbugs, like Peter Schiff, and Bitcoin enthusiasts so I decided to make an outline, with links, comparing and contrasting gold and Bitcoin. I made this in November of 2019 (thus the information therein is based on figures from that time) but, being scatter brained, neglected to post this for the Bitcoin community to see. The yardsticks I used to compare the two assets included the following: shipping/transactions costs, storage costs, censorship factor, settlement time, stock to flow, blockchain vs clearing house, validation, etc. I will also touch on Roosevelt's gold confiscation executive order in 1933, transporting gold during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, and the hypothetical cost for Venezuela to repatriate its gold more recently. I will provide a brief summary first then follow that with the outline I made. This information can be used as a tool for the Bitcoin community to combat some of the silly rhetoric coming from goldbugs such as Peter Schiff and James Rickards. I would like to make it clear, however, that I am not against gold and think that it performed its role as money very well in a technologically inferior era, namely Victorian times but I think Bitcoin performs the functions of money better than gold does in the current environment. I have been looking to make a contribution to the Bitcoin community and I hope this is a useful and educational tool for everyone who reads this. Summary: Shipping/transaction costs: 100 ounces of gold could be shipped for 315 dollars; the comparable dollar value in Bitcoin could be sent for 35 dollars using a non-segwit address. Using historical precendent, it would cost an estimated $32,997,989 to transport $1 billion in gold using the 3.3% fee that the Soviets charged the Spaniards in 1936; a $1 billion Bitcoin transaction moved for $690 last year by comparison. Please note that the only historic example we can provide for moving enormous sums of gold was when the government of Spain transported gold to Moscow during the Spanish Civil War in 1936. More information on this topic will be found in the notes section. Storage costs: 100 ounces of gold would require $451 per year to custody while the equivalent value of Bitcoin in dollar terms could be stored for the cost of a Ledger Nano S, $59.99. $1 billion USD value of gold would cost $2,900,000 per year while an Armory set up that is more secure would run you the cost of a laptop, $200-300. Censorship factor: Gold must pass through a 3rd party whenever it is shipped, whether for a transaction or for personal transportation. Gold will typically have to be declared and a customs duty may be imposed when crossing international borders. The key take-away is gatekeepers (customs) can halt movement of gold thus making transactions difficult. $46,000 of gold was seized in India despite the smugglers hiding it in their rectums. Settlement time: Shipping gold based on 100 ounces takes anywhere from 3-10 days while Bitcoin transactions clear in roughly 10 minutes depending on network congestion and fee size. Historic confiscation: Franklin Roosevelt confiscated and debased the paper value of gold in 1933 with Executive Order 6102. Since gold is physical in nature and value dense, it is often stored in custodial vaults like banks and so forth which act as a honeypot for rapacious governments. Stock to flow: Plan B's stock to flow model has become a favorite on twitter. Stock to flow measures the relationship between the total stock of an asset against the amount that is produced in a given year. Currently gold still has the highest value at 62 while Bitcoin sits at 50 in 2nd place. Bitcoin will overtake gold in 2024 after the next halving. Blockchain vs clearing house: gold payments historically passed through a 3rd party (clearinghouse) in order to be validated while Bitcoin transactions can be self validated through the use of a node. Key Takeaway from above- Bitcoin is vastly superior to gold in terms of cost, speed, and censorship resistance. One could theoretically carry around an enormous sum of Bitcoin on a cold card while the equivalent dollar value of gold would require a wheelbarrow...and create an enormous target on the back of the transporter. With the exception of the stock to flow ratio (which will flip in Bitcoin's favor soon), Bitcoin is superior to gold by all metrics covered. Most of the gold was exchanged for Russian weaponry, with the Soviet Union keeping 2.1% of the funds in the form of commissions and brokerage, and an additional 1.2% in the form of transport, deposit, melting, and refining expenses.” “Venezuela would need to transport the gold in several trips, traders said, since the high value of gold means it would be impossible to insure a single aircraft carrying 211 tonnes. It could take about 40 shipments to move the gold back to Caracas, traders estimated. “It’s going to be quite a task. Logistically, I’m not sure if the central bank realises the magnitude of the task ahead of them,” said one senior gold banker.” “So maybe Chávez intends to take matters into his own hands, and just sail the booty back to Venezuela on one of his own naval ships. Again, the theft risk is obvious — seamen can be greedy too — and this time there would be no insurance. Chávez is pretty crazy, but I don’t think he’d risk $12 billion that way.” “Which leaves one final alternative. Gold is fungible, and people are actually willing to pay a premium to buy gold which is sitting in the Bank of England’s ultra-secure vaults. So why bother transporting that gold at all? Venezuela could enter into an intercontinental repo transaction, where it sells its gold in the Bank of England to some counterparty, and then promises to buy it all back at a modest discount, on condition that it’s physically delivered to the Venezuelan central bank in Caracas. It would then be up to the counterparty to work out how to get 211 tons of gold to Caracas by a certain date. That gold could be sourced anywhere in the world, and transported in any conceivable manner — being much less predictable and transparent, those shipments would also be much harder to hijack. How much of a discount would a counterparty require to enter into this kind of transaction? Much more than 3.3%, is my guess. And again, it’s not entirely clear who would even be willing to entertain the idea. Glencore, perhaps?” “But here’s one last idea: why doesn’t Chávez crowdsource the problem? He could simply open a gold window at the Banco Central de Venezuela, where anybody at all could deliver standard gold bars. In return, the central bank would transfer to that person an equal number of gold bars in the custody of the Bank of England, plus a modest bounty of say 2% — that’s over $15,000 per 400-ounce bar, at current rates. It would take a little while, but eventually the gold would start trickling in: if you’re willing to pay a constant premium of 2% over the market price for a good, you can be sure that the good in question will ultimately find its way to your door. And the 2% cost of acquiring all that gold would surely be much lower than the cost of insuring and shipping it from England. It would be an elegant market-based solution to an artificial and ideologically-driven problem; I daresay Chávez might even chuckle at the irony of it. He’d just need to watch out for a rise in Andean banditry, as thieves tried to steal the bars on their disparate journeys into Venezuela.”

Meet Brock Pierce, the Presidential Candidate With Ties to Pedophiles Who Wants to End Human Trafficking
thedailybeast.com | Sep. 20, 2020. The “Mighty Ducks” actor is running for president. He clears the air (sort of) to Tarpley Hitt about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and more. In the trailer for First Kid, the forgettable 1996 comedy about a Secret Service agent assigned to protect the president’s son, the title character, played by a teenage Brock Pierce, describes himself as “definitely the most powerful kid in the universe.” Now, the former child star is running to be the most powerful man in the world, as an Independent candidate for President of the United States. Before First Kid, the Minnesota-born actor secured roles in a series of PG-rated comedies, playing a young Emilio Estevez in The Mighty Ducks, before graduating to smaller parts in movies like Problem Child 3: Junior in Love. When his screen time shrunk, Pierce retired from acting for a real executive role: co-founding the video production start-up Digital Entertainment Network (DEN) alongside businessman Marc Collins-Rector. At age 17, Pierce served as its vice president, taking in a base salary of $250,000. DEN became “the poster child for dot-com excesses,” raising more than $60 million in seed investments and plotting a $75 million IPO. But it turned into a shorthand for something else when, in October of 1999, the three co-founders suddenly resigned. That month, a New Jersey man filed a lawsuit alleging Collins-Rector had molested him for three years beginning when he was 13 years old. The following summer, three teens filed a sexual-abuse lawsuit against Pierce, Collins-Rector, and their third co-founder, Chad Shackley. The plaintiffs later dropped their case against Pierce (he made a payment of $21,600 to one of their lawyers) and Shackley. But after a federal grand jury indicted Collins-Rector on criminal charges in 2000, the DEN founders left the country. When Interpol arrested them in 2002, they said they had confiscated “guns, machetes, and child pornography” from the trio’s beach villa in Spain. While abroad, Pierce had pivoted to a new venture: Internet Gaming Entertainment, which sold virtual accessories in multiplayer online role-playing games to those desperate to pay, as one Wired reporter put it, “as much as $1,800 for an eight-piece suit of Skyshatter chain mail” rather than earn it in the games themselves. In 2005, a 25-year-old Pierce hired then-Goldman Sachs banker Steve Bannon—just before he would co-found Breitbart News. Two years later, after a World of Warcraft player sued the company for “diminishing” the fun of the game, Steve Bannon replaced Pierce as CEO. Collins-Rector eventually pleaded guilty to eight charges of child enticement and registered as a sex offender. In the years that followed, Pierce waded into the gonzo economy of cryptocurrencies, where he overlapped more than once with Jeffrey Epstein, and counseled him on crypto. In that world, he founded Tether, a cryptocurrency that bills itself as a “stablecoin,” because its value is allegedly tied to the U.S. dollar, and the blockchain software company Block.one. Like his earlier businesses, Pierce’s crypto projects see-sawed between massive investments and curious deals. When Block.one announced a smart contract software called EOS.IO, the company raised $4 billion almost overnight, setting an all-time record before the product even launched. The Securities and Exchange Commission later fined the company $24 million for violating federal securities law. After John Oliver mocked the ordeal, calling Pierce a “sleepy, creepy cowboy,” Block.one fired him. Tether, meanwhile, is currently under investigation by the New York Attorney General for possible fraud. On July 4, Pierce announced his candidacy for president. His campaign surrogates include a former Cambridge Analytica director and the singer Akon, who recently doubled down on developing an anonymously funded, $6 billion “Wakanda-like” metropolis in Senegal called Akon City. Pierce claims to be bipartisan, and from the 11 paragraphs on the “Policy” section of his website it can be hard to determine where he falls on the political spectrum. He supports legalizing marijuana and abolishing private prisons, but avoids the phrase “climate change.” He wants to end “human trafficking.” His proposal to end police brutality: body cams. His political contributions tell a more one-sided story. Pierce’s sole Democratic contribution went to the short-lived congressional run of crypto candidate Brian Forde. The rest went to Republican campaigns like Marco Rubio, Rick Perry, John McCain, and the National Right to Life Political Action Committee. Last year alone, Pierce gave over $44,000 to the Republican National Committee and more than $55,000 to Trump’s re-election fund. Pierce spoke to The Daily Beast from his tour bus and again over email. Those conversations have been combined and edited for clarity. You’re announcing your presidential candidacy somewhat late, and historically, third-party candidates haven’t had the best luck with the executive office. If you don’t have a strong path to the White House, what do you want out of the race? I announced on July 4, which I think is quite an auspicious date for an Independent candidate, hoping to bring independence to this country. There’s a lot of things that I can do. One is: I’m 39 years old. I turn 40 in November. So I’ve got time on my side. Whatever happens in this election cycle, I’m laying the groundwork for the future. The overall mission is to create a third major party—not another third party—a third major party in this country. I think that is what America needs most. George Washington in his closing address warned us about the threat of political parties. John Adams and the other founding fathers—their fear for our future was two political parties becoming dominant. And look at where we are. We were warned. I believe, having studied systems, any time you have a system of two, what happens is those two things come together, like magnets. They come into collision, or they become polarized and become completely divided. I think we need to rise above partisan politics and find a path forward together. As Albert Einstein is quoted—I’m not sure the line came from him, but he’s quoted in many places—he said that the definition of insanity is making the same mistake or doing the same thing over and over and over again, expecting a different result. [Ed. note: Einstein never said this.] It feels like that’s what our election cycle is like. Half the country feels like they won, half the country feels like they lost, at least if they voted or participated. Obviously, there’s another late-comer to the presidential race, and that’s Kanye West. He’s received a lot of flak for his candidacy, as he’s openly admitted to trying to siphon votes away from Joe Biden to ensure a Trump victory. Is that something you’re hoping to avoid or is that what you’re going for as well? Oh no. This is a very serious campaign. Our campaign is very serious. You’ll notice I don’t say anything negative about either of the two major political candidates, because I think that’s one of the problems with our political system, instead of people getting on stage, talking about their visionary ideas, inspiring people, informing and educating, talking about problems, mentioning problems, talking about solutions, constructive criticism. That’s why I refuse to run a negative campaign. I am definitely not a spoiler. I’m into data, right? I’m a technologist. I’ve got digital DNA. So does most of our campaign team. We’ve got our finger on the pulse. Most of my major Democratic contacts are really happy to see that we’re running in a red state like Wyoming. Kanye West’s home state is Wyoming. He’s not on the ballot in Wyoming I could say, in part, because he didn’t have Akon on his team. But I could also say that he probably didn’t want to be on the ballot in Wyoming because it’s a red state. He doesn’t want to take additional points in a state where he’s only running against Trump. But we’re on the ballot in Wyoming, and since we’re on the ballot in Wyoming I think it’s safe—more than safe, I think it’s evident—that we are not here to run as a spoiler for the benefit of Donald Trump. In running for president, you’ve opened yourself up to be scrutinized from every angle going back to the beginning of your career. I wanted to ask you about your time at the Digital Entertainment Network. Can you tell me a little bit about how you started there? You became a vice president as a teenager. What were your qualifications and what was your job exactly? Well, I was the co-founder. A lot of it was my idea. I had an idea that people would use the internet to watch videos, and we create content for the internet. The idea was basically YouTube and Hulu and Netflix. Anyone that was around in the ‘90s and has been around digital media since then, they all credit us as the creators of basically those ideas. I was just getting a message from the creator of The Vandals, the punk rock band, right before you called. He’s like, “Brock, looks like we’re going to get the Guinness Book of World Records for having created the first streaming television show.” We did a lot of that stuff. We had 30 television shows. We had the top most prestigious institutions in the world as investors. The biggest names. High-net-worth investors like Terry Semel, who’s chairman and CEO of Warner Brothers, and became the CEO of Yahoo. I did all sorts of things. I helped sell $150,000 worth of advertising contracts to the CEOs of Pepsi and everything else. I was the face of the company, meeting all the major banks and everything else, selling the vision of what the future was. You moved in with Marc Collins-Rector and Chad Shackley at a mansion in Encino. Was that the headquarters of the business? All start-ups, they normally start out in your home. Because it’s just you. The company was first started out of Marc’s house, and it was probably there for the first two or three months, before the company got an office. That’s, like, how it is for all start-ups. were later a co-defendant in the L.A. County case filed against Marc Collins-Rector for plying minors with alcohol and drugs, in order to facilitate sexual abuse. You were dropped from the case, but you settled with one of the men for $21,600. Can you explain that? Okay, well, first of all, that’s not accurate. Two of the plaintiffs in that case asked me if I would be a plaintiff. Because I refused to be a part of the lawsuit, they chose to include me to discredit me, to make their case stronger. They also went and offered 50 percent of what they got to the house management—they went around and offered money to anyone to participate in this. They needed people to corroborate their story. Eventually, because I refused to participate in the lawsuit, they named me. Subsequently, all three of the plaintiffs apologized to me, in front of audiences, in front of many people, saying Brock never did anything. They dismissed their cases. Remember, this is a civil thing. I’ve never been charged with a crime in my life. And the last plaintiff to have his case dismissed, he contacted his lawyer and said, “Dismiss this case against Brock. Brock never did anything. I just apologized. Dismiss his case.” And the lawyer said, “No. I won’t dismiss this case, I have all these out-of-pocket expenses, I refuse to file the paperwork unless you give me my out-of-pocket expenses.” And so the lawyer, I guess, had $21,000 in bills. So I paid his lawyer $21,000—not him, it was not a settlement. That was a payment to his lawyer for his out-of-pocket expenses. Out-of-pocket expenses so that he would file the paperwork to dismiss the case. You’ve said the cases were unfounded, and the plaintiffs eventually apologized. But your boss, Marc Collins-Rector later pleaded guilty to eight charges of child enticement and registered as a sex offender. Were you aware of his behavior? How do you square the fact that later allegations proved to be true, but these ones were not? Well, remember: I was 16 and 17 years old at the time? So, no. I don’t think Marc is the man they made him out to be. But Marc is not a person I would associate with today, and someone I haven’t associated with in a very long time. I was 16 and 17. I chose the wrong business partner. You live and you learn. You’ve pointed out that you were underage when most of these allegations were said to take place. Did you ever feel like you were coerced or in over your head while working at DEN? I mean, I was working 18 hours a day, doing things I’d never done before. It was business school. But I definitely learned a lot in building that company. We raised $88 million. We filed our [form] S-1 to go public. We were the hottest start-up in Los Angeles. In 2000, you left the country with Marc Collins-Rector. Why did you leave? How did you spend those two years abroad? I moved to Spain in 1999 for personal reasons. I spent those two years in Europe working on developing my businesses. Interpol found you in 2002. The house where you were staying reportedly contained guns, machetes, and child pornography. Whose guns and child porn were those? Were you aware they were in the house, and how did those get there? My lawyers have addressed this in 32 pages of documentation showing a complete absence of wrongdoing. Please refer to my webpage for more information. [Ed. Note: The webpage does not mention guns, machetes, or child pornography. It does state:“It is true that when the local police arrested Collins-Rector in Spain in 2002 on an international warrant, Mr. Pierce was also taken into custody, but so was everyone at Collins-Rector’s house in Spain; and it is equally clear that Brock was promptly released, and no charges of any kind were ever filed against Brock concerning this matter.”] What do you make of the allegations against Bryan Singer?[Ed. Note: Bryan Singer, a close friend of Collins-Rector, invested at least $50,000 in DEN. In an Atlantic article outlining Singer’s history of alleged sexual assault and statutory rape, one source claimed that at age 15, Collins-Rector abused him and introduced him to Singer, who then assaulted him in the DEN headquarters.] I am aware of them and I support of all victims of sexual assault. I will let America’s justice system decide on Singer’s outcome.
In 2011, you spoke at the Mindshift conference supported by Jeffrey Epstein. At that point, he had already been convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor. Why did you agree to speak? I had never heard of Jeffrey Epstein. His name was not on the website. I was asked to speak at a conference alongside Nobel Prize winners. It was not a cryptocurrency conference, it was filled with Nobel Prize winners. I was asked to speak alongside Nobel Prize winners on the future of money. I speak at conferences historically, two to three times a week. I was like, “Nobel Prize winners? Sounds great. I’ll happily talk about the future of money with them.” I had no idea who Jeffrey Epstein was. His name was not listed anywhere on the website. Had I known what I know now? I clearly would have never spoken there. But I spoke at a conference that he cosponsored. What’s your connection to the Clinton Global Initiative? Did you hear about it through Jeffrey Epstein? I joined the Clinton Global Initiative as a philanthropist in 2006 and was a member for one year. My involvement with the Initiative had no connection to Jeffrey Epstein whatsoever.
You’ve launched your campaign in Minnesota, where George Floyd was killed by a police officer. How do you feel about the civil uprising against police brutality? I’m from Minnesota. Born and raised. We just had a press conference there, announcing that we’re on the ballot. Former U.S. Senator Dean Barkley was there. So that tells you, when former U.S. Senators are endorsing the candidate, right? [Ed. note: Barkley was never elected to the United States Senate. In November of 2002, he was appointed by then Minnesota Governor Jesse Venture to fill the seat after Sen. Paul Wellstone died in a plane crash. Barkley’s term ended on Jan. 3, 2003—two months later.] Yes, George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis. My vice-presidential running mate Karla Ballard and I, on our last trip to Minnesota together, went to visit the George Floyd Memorial. I believe in law and order. I believe that law and order is foundational to any functioning society. But there is no doubt in my mind that we need reform. These types of events—this is not an isolated incident. This has happened many times before. It’s time for change. We have a lot of detail around policy on this issue that we will be publishing next week. Not just high-level what we think, not just a summary, but detailed policy. You said that you support “law and order.” What does that mean? “Law and order” means creating a fair and just legal system where our number one priority is protecting the inalienable rights of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” for all people. This means reforming how our police intervene in emergency situations, abolishing private prisons that incentivize mass incarceration, and creating new educational and economic opportunities for our most vulnerable communities. I am dedicated to preventing crime by eliminating the socioeconomic conditions that encourage it. I support accountability and transparency in government and law enforcement. Some of the key policies I support are requiring body-cams on all law enforcement officers who engage with the public, curtailing the 1033 program that provides local law enforcement agencies with access to military equipment, and abolishing private prisons. Rather than simply defund the police, my administration will take a holistic approach to heal and unite America by ending mass incarceration, police brutality, and racial injustice. Did you attend any Black Lives Matter protests? I support all movements aimed at ending racial injustice and inequality. I have not attended any Black Lives Matter protests. My running-mate, Karla Ballard, attended the March on Washington in support of racial justice and equality. Your platform doesn’t mention the words “climate change.” Is there a reason for that? I’m not sure what you mean. Our policy platform specifically references human-caused climate change and we have a plan to restabilize the climate, address environmental degradation, and ensure environmental sustainability. [Ed. Note: As of writing the Pierce campaign’s policy platform does not specifically reference human-caused climate change.] You’ve recently brought on Akon as a campaign surrogate. How did that happen? Tell me about that. Akon and I have been friends for quite some time. I was one of the guys that taught him about Bitcoin. I helped make some videogames for him, I think in 2012. We were talking about Bitcoin, teaching him the ropes, back in 2013. And in 2014, we were both speaking at the Milken Global Conference, and I encouraged him to talk about how Bitcoin, Africa, changed the world. He became the biggest celebrity in the world, talking about Bitcoin at the time. I’m an adviser to his Akoin project, very interested in the work that he’s doing to build a city in Africa. I think we need a government that’s of, for, and by the people. Akon has huge political aspirations. He obviously was a hugely successful artist. But he also discovered artists like Lady Gaga. So not only is he, himself, a great artist, but he’s also a great identifier and builder of other artists. And he’s been a great businessman, philanthropist. He’s pushing the limits of what can be done. We’re like-minded individuals in that regard. I think he’ll be running for political office one day, because he sees what I see: that we need real change, and we need a government that is of, for, and by the people. You mentioned that you’re an adviser on Akoin. Do you have any financial investments in Akoin or Akon City? I don’t believe so. I’d have to check. I have so much stuff. But I don’t believe that I have any economic interests in his stuff. I’d have to verify that. We’ll get back to you. I don’t believe that I have any economic interests. My interest is in helping him. He’s a visionary with big ideas that wants to help things in the world. If I can be of assistance in helping him make the world a better place, I’m all for it. I’m not motivated by money. I’m not running for office because I’m motivated by power. I’m running for office because I’m deeply, deeply concerned about our collective future. You’ve said you’re running on a pro-technology platform. One week into your campaign last month, a New York appeals court approved the state Attorney General’s attempt to investigate the stablecoin Tether for potentially fraudulent activity. Do you think this will impact your ability to sell people on your tech entrepreneurship? No, I think my role in Tether is as awesome as it gets. It was my idea. I put it together. But I’ve had no involvement in the company since 2015. I gave all of my equity to the other shareholders. I’ve had zero involvement in the company for almost six years. It was just my idea. I put the initial team together. But I think Tether is one of the most important innovations in the world, certainly. The idea is, I digitized the U.S. dollar. I used technology to digitize currency—existing currency. The U.S. dollar in particular. It’s doing $10 trillion a year. Ten trillion dollars a year of transactional volume. It’s probably the most important innovation in currency since the advent of fiat money. The people that took on the business and ran the business in years to come, they’ve done things I’m not proud of. I’m not sure they’ve done anything criminal. But they certainly did things differently than I would do. But it’s like, you have kids, they turn 18, they go out into the world, and sometimes you’re proud of the things they do, and sometimes you shake your head and go, “Ugh, why did you do that?” I have zero concerns as it relates to me personally. I wish they made better decisions. What do you think the investigation will find? I have no idea. The problem that was raised is that there was a $5 million loan between two entities and whether or not they had the right to do that, did they disclose it correctly. There’s been no accusations of, like, embezzlement or anything that bad. [Ed. Note: The Attorney General’s press release on the investigation reads: “Our investigation has determined that the operators of the ‘Bitfinex’ trading platform, who also control the ‘tether’ virtual currency, have engaged in a cover-up to hide the apparent loss of $850 million dollars of co-mingled client and corporate funds.”] But there’s been some disclosure things, that is the issue. No one is making any outrageous claims that these are people that have done a bunch of bad—well, on the internet, the media has said that the people behind the business may have been manipulating the price of Bitcoin, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the New York investigation. Again, I’m so not involved, and so not at risk, that I’m not even up to speed on the details. [Ed note: A representative of the New York State Attorney General told Forbes that he “cannot confirm or deny that the investigation” includes Pierce.] We’ve recently witnessed the rise of QAnon, the conspiracy theory that Hollywood is an evil cabal of Satanic pedophiles and Trump is the person waging war on them. You mentioned human trafficking, which has become a cause for them. What are your thoughts on that? I’ve watched some of the content. I think it’s an interesting phenomenon. I’m an internet person, so Anonymous is obviously an organization that has been doing interesting stuff. It’s interesting. I don’t have a big—conspiracy theory stuff is—I guess I have a question for you: What do you think of all of it, since you’re the expert? You know, I think it’s not true, but I’m not running for president. I do wonder what this politician [Georgia congressional candidate Marjorie Taylor Greene], who’s just won her primary, is going to do on day one, once she finds out there’s no satanic cabal room. Wait, someone was running for office and won on a QAnon platform, saying that Hollywood did—say what? You’re the expert here. She won a primary. But I want to push on if we only have a few minutes. In 2006, your gaming company IGE brought on Steve Bannon as an investor. Goldman later bought out most of your stock. Bannon eventually replaced you as CEO of Affinity. You’ve described him as your “right-hand man for, like, seven years.” How well did you know Bannon during that time? Yes, so this is in my mid-twenties. He wasn’t an investor. He worked for me. He was my banker. He worked for me for three years as my yield guide. And then he was my CEO running the company for another four years. So I haven’t worked with Steve for a decade or so. We worked in videogame stuff and banking. He was at Goldman Sachs. He was not in the political area at the time. But he was a pretty successful banker. He set up Goldman Sachs Los Angeles. So for me, I’d say he did a pretty good job. During your business relationship, Steve Bannon founded Breitbart News, which has pretty consistently published racist material. How do you feel about Breitbart? I had no involvement with Breitbart News. As for how I feel about such material, I’m not pleased by any form of hate-mongering. I strongly support the equality of all Americans. Did you have qualms about Bannon’s role in the 2016 election? Bannon’s role in the Trump campaign got me to pay closer attention to what he was doing but that’s about it. Whenever you find out that one of your former employees has taken on a role like that, you pay attention. Bannon served on the board of Cambridge Analytica. A staffer on your campaign, Brittany Kaiser, also served as a business director for them. What are your thoughts on their use of illicitly-obtained Facebook data for campaign promotional material? Yes, so this will be the last question I can answer because I’ve got to be off for this 5:00 pm. But Brittany Kaiser is a friend of mine. She was the whistleblower of Cambridge Analytica. She came to me and said, “What do I do?” And I said, “Tell the truth. The truth will set you free.” [Ed. Note: Investigations in Cambridge Analytica took place as early as Nov. 2017, when a U.K. reporter at Channel 4 News recorded their CEO boasting about using “beautiful Ukranian girls” and offers of bribes to discredit political officials. The first whistleblower was Christopher Wylie, who disclosed a cache of documents to The Guardian, published on Mar. 17, 2018. Kaiser’s confession ran five days later, after the scandal made national news. Her association with Cambridge Analytica is not mentioned anywhere on Pierce’s campaign website.] So I’m glad that people—I’m a supporter of whistleblowers, people that see injustice in the world and something not right happening, and who put themselves in harm’s way to stand up for what they believe in. So I stand up for Brittany Kaiser. Who do you think [anonymous inventor of Bitcoin] Satoshi Nakamoto is? We all are Satoshi Nakamoto. You got married at Burning Man. Have you been attending virtual Burning Man? I’m running a presidential campaign. So, while I was there in spirit, unfortunately my schedule did not permit me to attend. 📌 The famous bitcoin enthusiast and TV presenter Max Kaiser expects the price of the first cryptocurrency to rise to $ 28,000 soon. 📌 Popular cryptanalyst Plan B, using the Stock-to-Flow (S2F) model, has calculated that Bitcoin will reach this mark by the end of 2021. 📈 The main driver of growth for the cryptocurrency market was the halving of the bitcoin miners' reward. Most investors expect a sharp rise in prices in 2020-2021, which was associated with the general optimism in the market in the middle of the year. 🤵🏻 Many prominent figures in the financial world, such as the head of the Bank for International Settlements Augustine Carstens, the head of the Bank of England Mark Carney, the economist-historian from Harvard University Niall Ferguson, and the president of the brokerage company Euro Pacific Capital Inc. Peter Schiff, have changed their negative attitude towards cryptocurrencies to neutral or even positive. 💰 One way or another, this year the market expects a lot of events that should have a positive effect on the investment attractiveness of cryptocurrencies. 📈 Today, it is still difficult to predict the future of cryptocurrencies in the long term, but if traditional stock markets suffer in the near future, then the prices of cryptocurrencies as an alternative means of investment can skyrocket many times, and this should also be taken into account when financial planning for 2021 and subsequent years. ✅ Today Pyrk is one of the most technologically advanced projects in the industry, offering users the widest range of services. The Next Crypto Wave: The Rise of Stablecoins and its Entry to the U.S. Dollar Market
Author: Christian Hsieh, CEO of Tokenomy This paper examines some explanations for the continual global market demand for the U.S. dollar, the rise of stablecoins, and the utility and opportunities that crypto dollars can offer to both the cryptocurrency and traditional markets. The U.S. dollar, dominant in world trade since the establishment of the 1944 Bretton Woods System, is unequivocally the world’s most demanded reserve currency. Today, more than 61% of foreign bank reserves and nearly 40% of the entire world’s debt is denominated in U.S. dollars1. However, there is a massive supply and demand imbalance in the U.S. dollar market. On the supply side, central banks throughout the world have implemented more than a decade-long accommodative monetary policy since the 2008 global financial crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated the need for central banks to provide necessary liquidity and keep staggering economies moving. While the Federal Reserve leads the effort of “money printing” and stimulus programs, the current money supply still cannot meet the constant high demand for the U.S. dollar2. Let us review some of the reasons for this constant dollar demand from a few economic fundamentals.
Demand for U.S. Dollars
Firstly, most of the world’s trade is denominated in U.S. dollars. Chief Economist of the IMF, Gita Gopinath, has compiled data reflecting that the U.S. dollar’s share of invoicing was 4.7 times larger than America’s share of the value of imports, and 3.1 times its share of world exports3. The U.S. dollar is the dominant “invoicing currency” in most developing countries4. https://preview.redd.it/d4xalwdyz8p51.png?width=535&format=png&auto=webp&s=9f0556c6aa6b29016c9b135f3279e8337dfee2a6 https://preview.redd.it/wucg40kzz8p51.png?width=653&format=png&auto=webp&s=71257fec29b43e0fc0df1bf04363717e3b52478f This U.S. dollar preference also directly impacts the world’s debt. According to the Bank of International Settlements, there is over $67 trillion in U.S. dollar denominated debt globally, and borrowing outside of the U.S. accounted for $12.5 trillion in Q1 20205. There is an immense demand for U.S. dollars every year just to service these dollar debts. The annual U.S. dollar buying demand is easily over $1 trillion assuming the borrowing cost is at 1.5% (1 year LIBOR + 1%) per year, a conservative estimate. https://preview.redd.it/6956j6f109p51.png?width=487&format=png&auto=webp&s=ccea257a4e9524c11df25737cac961308b542b69 Secondly, since the U.S. has a much stronger economy compared to its global peers, a higher return on investments draws U.S. dollar demand from everywhere in the world, to invest in companies both in the public and private markets. The U.S. hosts the largest stock markets in the world with more than $33 trillion in public market capitalization (combined both NYSE and NASDAQ)6. For the private market, North America’s total share is well over 60% of the $6.5 trillion global assets under management across private equity, real assets, and private debt investments7. The demand for higher quality investments extends to the fixed income market as well. As countries like Japan and Switzerland currently have negative-yielding interest rates8, fixed income investors’ quest for yield in the developed economies leads them back to the U.S. debt market. As of July 2020, there are $15 trillion worth of negative-yielding debt securities globally (see chart). In comparison, the positive, low-yielding U.S. debt remains a sound fixed income strategy for conservative investors in uncertain market conditions. Source: Bloomberg Last, but not least, there are many developing economies experiencing failing monetary policies, where hyperinflation has become a real national disaster. A classic example is Venezuela, where the currency Bolivar became practically worthless as the inflation rate skyrocketed to 10,000,000% in 20199. The recent Beirut port explosion in Lebanon caused a sudden economic meltdown and compounded its already troubled financial market, where inflation has soared to over 112% year on year10. For citizens living in unstable regions such as these, the only reliable store of value is the U.S. dollar. According to the Chainalysis 2020 Geography of Cryptocurrency Report, Venezuela has become one of the most active cryptocurrency trading countries11. The demand for cryptocurrency surges as a flight to safety mentality drives Venezuelans to acquire U.S. dollars to preserve savings that they might otherwise lose. The growth for cryptocurrency activities in those regions is fueled by these desperate citizens using cryptocurrencies as rails to access the U.S. dollar, on top of acquiring actual Bitcoin or other underlying crypto assets.
The Rise of Crypto Dollars
Due to the highly volatile nature of cryptocurrencies, USD stablecoin, a crypto-powered blockchain token that pegs its value to the U.S. dollar, was introduced to provide stable dollar exposure in the crypto trading sphere. Tether is the first of its kind. Issued in 2014 on the bitcoin blockchain (Omni layer protocol), under the token symbol USDT, it attempts to provide crypto traders with a stable settlement currency while they trade in and out of various crypto assets. The reason behind the stablecoin creation was to address the inefficient and burdensome aspects of having to move fiat U.S. dollars between the legacy banking system and crypto exchanges. Because one USDT is theoretically backed by one U.S. dollar, traders can use USDT to trade and settle to fiat dollars. It was not until 2017 that the majority of traders seemed to realize Tether’s intended utility and started using it widely. As of April 2019, USDT trading volume started exceeding the trading volume of bitcoina12, and it now dominates the crypto trading sphere with over $50 billion average daily trading volume13. https://preview.redd.it/3vq7v1jg09p51.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=46f11b5f5245a8c335ccc60432873e9bad2eb1e1 An interesting aspect of USDT is that although the claimed 1:1 backing with U.S. dollar collateral is in question, and the Tether company is in reality running fractional reserves through a loose offshore corporate structure, Tether’s trading volume and adoption continues to grow rapidly14. Perhaps in comparison to fiat U.S. dollars, which is not really backed by anything, Tether still has cash equivalents in reserves and crypto traders favor its liquidity and convenience over its lack of legitimacy. For those who are concerned about Tether’s solvency, they can now purchase credit default swaps for downside protection15. On the other hand, USDC, the more compliant contender, takes a distant second spot with total coin circulation of $1.8 billion, versus USDT at $14.5 billion (at the time of publication). It is still too early to tell who is the ultimate leader in the stablecoin arena, as more and more stablecoins are launching to offer various functions and supporting mechanisms. There are three main categories of stablecoin: fiat-backed, crypto-collateralized, and non-collateralized algorithm based stablecoins. Most of these are still at an experimental phase, and readers can learn more about them here. With the continuous innovation of stablecoin development, the utility stablecoins provide in the overall crypto market will become more apparent.
In addition to trade settlement, stablecoins can be applied in many other areas. Cross-border payments and remittances is an inefficient market that desperately needs innovation. In 2020, the average cost of sending money across the world is around 7%16, and it takes days to settle. The World Bank aims to reduce remittance fees to 3% by 2030. With the implementation of blockchain technology, this cost could be further reduced close to zero. J.P. Morgan, the largest bank in the U.S., has created an Interbank Information Network (IIN) with 416 global Institutions to transform the speed of payment flows through its own JPM Coin, another type of crypto dollar17. Although people argue that JPM Coin is not considered a cryptocurrency as it cannot trade openly on a public blockchain, it is by far the largest scale experiment with all the institutional participants trading within the “permissioned” blockchain. It might be more accurate to refer to it as the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) instead of “blockchain” in this context. Nevertheless, we should keep in mind that as J.P. Morgan currently moves $6 trillion U.S. dollars per day18, the scale of this experiment would create a considerable impact in the international payment and remittance market if it were successful. Potentially the day will come when regulated crypto exchanges become participants of IIN, and the link between public and private crypto assets can be instantly connected, unlocking greater possibilities in blockchain applications. Many central banks are also in talks about developing their own central bank digital currency (CBDC). Although this idea was not new, the discussion was brought to the forefront due to Facebook’s aggressive Libra project announcement in June 2019 and the public attention that followed. As of July 2020, at least 36 central banks have published some sort of CBDC framework. While each nation has a slightly different motivation behind its currency digitization initiative, ranging from payment safety, transaction efficiency, easy monetary implementation, or financial inclusion, these central banks are committed to deploying a new digital payment infrastructure. When it comes to the technical architectures, research from BIS indicates that most of the current proofs-of-concept tend to be based upon distributed ledger technology (permissioned blockchain)19. https://preview.redd.it/lgb1f2rw19p51.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=040bb0deed0499df6bf08a072fd7c4a442a826a0 These institutional experiments are laying an essential foundation for an improved global payment infrastructure, where instant and frictionless cross-border settlements can take place with minimal costs. Of course, the interoperability of private DLT tokens and public blockchain stablecoins has yet to be explored, but the innovation with both public and private blockchain efforts could eventually merge. This was highlighted recently by the Governor of the Bank of England who stated that “stablecoins and CBDC could sit alongside each other20”. One thing for certain is that crypto dollars (or other fiat-linked digital currencies) are going to play a significant role in our future economy.
There is never a dull moment in the crypto sector. The industry narratives constantly shift as innovation continues to evolve. Twelve years since its inception, Bitcoin has evolved from an abstract subject to a familiar concept. Its role as a secured, scarce, decentralized digital store of value has continued to gain acceptance, and it is well on its way to becoming an investable asset class as a portfolio hedge against asset price inflation and fiat currency depreciation.Stablecoins have proven to be useful as proxy dollars in the crypto world, similar to how dollars are essential in the traditional world. It is only a matter of time before stablecoins or private digital tokens dominate the cross-border payments and global remittances industry. There are no shortages of hypes and experiments that draw new participants into the crypto space, such as smart contracts, new blockchains, ICOs, tokenization of things, or the most recent trends on DeFi tokens. These projects highlight the possibilities for a much more robust digital future, but the market also needs time to test and adopt. A reliable digital payment infrastructure must be built first in order to allow these experiments to flourish. In this paper we examined the historical background and economic reasons for the U.S. dollar’s dominance in the world, and the probable conclusion is that the demand for U.S. dollars will likely continue, especially in the middle of a global pandemic, accompanied by a worldwide economic slowdown. The current monetary system is far from perfect, but there are no better alternatives for replacement at least in the near term. Incremental improvements are being made in both the public and private sectors, and stablecoins have a definite role to play in both the traditional and the new crypto world. Thank you. Can Cypherium be My Next Moon Bag After ChainLink !!!
When I first brought my Chainlink in Dec 2018, it was valued at 0.35. I brought 4000 units of Chainlink at 0.35 per coin ( Total Cost $1400). In the coming week, the price crashed to 0.20. Irrespective of taking huge losses, I still didn’t sell my Link as I had trust in the project. I came across various twitter accounts giving negative predictions about Link and how this can again go down further but I kept HOLDing. Now you may ask why? To invest in a project and to understand its future value, we need to put some efforts to do a little bit of research about the project as well as the impact it can make in the future. What Is Chainlink ChainLink is a decentralized oracle network that provides real-world data to smart contracts on the blockchain. LINK is the digital asset token used to pay for services on the network. In the Ethereum Scheme of Things, Chainlink is very important. With ChainLink, smart contract users can use the network’s oracles to retrieve data from off-chain application program interfaces (APIs), data pools, and other resources and integrate them into the blockchain. Basically, ChainLink takes information that is external to blockchain applications and puts it on-chain. For many of the blockchain protocols out there, oracles like ChainLink will be necessary to access the data that these protocols need to operate. As such, ChainLink is, as it names suggest, the link that connects blockchain to existing infrastructure. For me, I have understood that Etherum smart contracts have a huge potential, and these smart contracts needed real-time price feed data collected from sources both on and off blockchains. Chainlink was the first mover in this direction and that paid off really well. I have recently sold the bulk of my LINK portfolio in the recent pump. This is not because I don’t see any future with LINK, But I feel i can generate more profits with new projects I Belive in HOLDing. If I break down my portfolio, 80% of them are long HOLDs. 20% of them are for gamble the uniswap shit/farmcoin frenzy. I belive these Quick Rich projects that come out daily will continue for couple of months. After that what can survive are the projects that have solid base with future outlook. Central Bank Digital Currency — The next big thing !! Recently Philadelphia’s Federal Reserve bank president Patrick Harker came out with a remarkable statement that it is “inevitable” for the central banks, including the U.S. Federal Reserve, to start issuing digital currency. This is a great leap for blockchain from being labeled as a Ponzi in the past and now attaining a status of legitimacy. As per a research report published by Bank for International Settlements (BIS), 70% of banks are engaged in or about to start CBDC work, and of these more than half are exploring both general purpose and wholesale CBDCs. Lets first have a look into the concept of digital currency. As defined by IBM A central bank digital currency is a digital extension of a central bank’s medium of exchangeable to permanently settle transactions between parties. The central bank is able to remove credit risk and ensure stability by guaranteeing the value of the CBDC withblockchain, exactly like paper money. The present concept of CBDCs was directly inspired by Bitcoin, but CBDC is different from virtual currency and cryptocurrency, which are not issued by the state and lack the legal tender status declared by the government. Proposed implementations may not even use any sort of distributed ledger In the beginning, CBDC was a slow-moving project. With the arrival of Facebook LIBRA, the development of CBDC became a high priority for Most of the nations. This is how I came across Cypherium. Cypherium Cypherium is an enterprise-ready blockchain project, which is designed to be highly scalable and robust which utilizes a hybrid design that features a joint Proof-of-Work (PoW) and HotStuff (Also adopted by Facebook’s Libra) consensus mechanism that can allegedly achieve thousands of transactions per second without sacrificing decentralization. Cypherium is designed in such a way to focuses on achieving scalability, decentralization, and commercialization viability. If you want to have a detailed read about the project, you can read here Can Cypherium pull a LINK performance? For me, Yes. Why? . I base my argument on the belief that I will be holding this project for at least a couple of months to come. These are not quick buy- sell that you can make an instant profit/loss 📷 If you want to make good profits (10–15x in NOOBS term), the best option is to have your entry in the beginning. Either you have to get the tokens in ICO or wait for the listing and time your entry (Most the quick flippers sell their token which will lead to massive price drops). Once the dust settles, most of the projects go through an accumulation phase, and once it gains enough goodwill in the market it booms. Chainlink was trading in the range $.20 to $ .30 for a couple of months and now it’s trading at $13– $15. It took almost 2 years for LINK to reach here , Hope you got the point 📷 LINK was the first mover when it came to Oracles. Similarly, When it comes to CBDC, Cypherium has the edge. Cypherium has formed a Thinktank called Official Forum of Monetary and Financial Institutions (OMFIF) which is now leading research and development in the field of CBDC. Most of the leading Central Banks are part of the initiative and it is expected that all these CBDC, if launched, will be running on Cypherium blockchain (High Chances). That means huge goodwill for the project, Huge upside for the CPT coins 📷 One of the greatest strengths of LINK is its partnerships. Similar to LINK Cypherium has already made Cypherium Enterprise available as Blockchain-as-a-Service for enterprise customers through the stack platforms of Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM. Cypherium is already a part of IC3 alliance in which Chainlink is also a part of. This means again more positive for the project to go up All of these are my assumptions. This can even go wrong. But that the risk I am willing to take.I am sure this will pay off very positively for me

What are the troubles concerned in investing in cryptocurrencies
Volatility: If you study the altcoin alltime index, you may see the disgusting drop in crypto fee
Storage: Knowing which coins to buy and the way to keep them is a huge hassle in the crypto currency global, crypto jacking and hacking are at the all time high as hackers have infested maximum internet browsers with coin mining scripts and just last year over $1 billion greenbacks well worth of crypto belongings were stolen from numerous exchanges which in turn forced them to shut their doorways.

Future of real estate - as compared to Banking, stock market, gold
https://preview.redd.it/s43qtxm3c5g51.jpg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13ad2b17eb659f6ea49b04584b374762553afa97 Before comparing the future of the real estate, stock market, and gold, let’s get a glimpse of what they are! Real estate investment involves the purchase, ownership, management, rental, or sale of real estate for profit. The stock market is a share market, however, besides shares of companies, other instruments like bonds, mutual funds, and derivative contracts too are traded in the stock market. The future of real estate in comparison to the stock market and gold is very bright. This can be predicted by seeing the growth and development in cities across different continents as well as grooming the cities for wealth creation. This will boost opportunities in the respective sector. Overall, total construction output globally is projected to reach a whopping $15 trillion by 2025. The Bank of International Settlements analyzed these economies found that house prices in the US are going to be deflating (about 80 basis points per annum in real estate prices over the next 40 years). Effect of population increase It is noticed and surveyed that by 2025, the population of middle-class people will rise by 1 billion. Connecting this, it will increase the demand for affordable houses. Middle-class people will own a house compared to saving amounts, investing in the stock market, or buying gold. With an increase in population, there will be more demand for healthcare facilities, hospitals with a simultaneous increase in the requirement of industries and agriculture, which will boost the industrial as well as the agricultural sector. On the other hand, it is objectified that the gap between the richer section and the poor section of the society keeps on increasing. The richer section of society will tend to buy gold creating a hike in its prices. Concluding, the only section left is the middle-class society, for whom it will be unaffordable to buy a good amount of gold as well as a major part of them won’t desire to take the risk of investing in the stock market. Effect of increase in the industrial sector As the population growth will give a hike in the industrial sector, the stock market will go through more ups and downs due to the introduction of more industries in the market. Resulting in a small portion of the population taking the risks to invest in the stock markets. The increasing need for eco-friendly homes and environment It’s projected that by 2050, the world will need 50 percent more energy, 40 percent more water, and 35 percent more food to sustain the population. As we can see from the changing environmental needs, adaptation accordingly will give a huge effect on the real estate sector. The major part of the population will desire to have a house with an eco- friendly, green surroundings. Effect of technology on real estate and stock market The use of blockchain and cryptocurrency is increasing with the increase in time. Almost 90% of the industries taking their business online will too affect the real estate as well as the stock market. Blockchain is simply the technology behind bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This technology can be designed to support any type of transaction. Now the question is, How? Here’s the answer, With the increase in technology, real estatewill completely shift towards technological ways of transactions. This will make real estate transactions easy to conduct and more people will prefer to shift towards investing in real estate rather than stock markets. What you prefer tangible property or an intangible property You buy an intangible property when you invest in the stock market, whereas you buy a tangible property when you invest in real estate as well as gold. First and foremost, the difference between the two tangible properties i.e. gold and real estate is people prefer to invest in real estate in comparison to gold, due to its longevity, expansion, and further benefits which can be achieved by renting the property. On the other hand, the difference between investing in real estate and the stock market can be viewed keeping in mind the following things. First, Debt for real estate is easier and less risky in comparison to the stock market. Secondly, real estate is appealing because it is a tangible asset that can be controlled, with the added benefit of diversification. On the basis of accountability: Based on accountability, it can be observed that having a physical property is more accountable than having a virtual property as it involves more risk. The increase in population and the simultaneous increase in population will end up shifting people’s interests more towards spending in real estate than the stock market. In conclusion to this, we can say that comparing the three variables – real estate, stock market and gold, investment in real estate is far more profitable and will be on its peak in coming future.
LOEx Market Research Report on August 26: BTC market sentiment is bearish, testing the support point downward
[Today's Hot Tips] 1.[Researcher of Renmin University of China: The issuance of digital currency broadens the range of options for the original monetary policy] According to People's Daily Online, Fan Zhiyong, a researcher at the National Institute of Development and Strategy, Renmin University of China, published an article demonstrating the importance of digital currency. He believes:
The issuance of digital currency has broadened the range of options for the original monetary policy. If all physical currencies can be converted into digital currencies, this will make it possible for the central bank to break through the lower limit of zero interest rates and reduce nominal interest rates to negative. In addition, digital currency also provides a new quantitative easing tool. The central bank distributes the same amount of digital currency to every citizen in the form of free payment, which can directly bypass the inefficient financial market during the crisis and improve citizens' ability to consume and repay debts, making it easier to achieve the central bank’s monetary policy goal of stabilizing volatility.
The digital currency can make monetary policy more transparent, which can enhance the effectiveness of the monetary transmission mechanism, reduce internal noise, and strengthen the stability of the system. By adopting the central bank's digital currency, the central bank can establish a fixed price level target specified by a specific price index, thereby providing a durable, credible and transparent nominal anchor for the economic system.
The issuance of digital currency can solve the problem of the reduction of physical cash and bring some seigniorage to the central bank.
Fourth, digital currency can increase the stability of the financial system. From a technical point of view, digital currency allows residents, companies and non-bank financial institutions to directly settle with the central bank's digital currency. This can share part of the settlement functions of commercial banks and reduce the concentration of liquidity and credit risk in the payment system.
The digital currency issued by the central bank can provide a truly risk-free alternative to bank deposits. The shift of residents from holding bank deposits to holding digital cash has reduced part of the demand for government guarantees for deposits and weakened a source of moral hazard in the financial system.
2.[Coinbit, South Korea’s third largest exchange, was seized by the police for alleged market manipulation] According to Seoul Shinmun, Coinbit, South Korea’s third largest exchange, was seized and investigated by the South Korean police, and its chairman and operator were suspected of internal transactions and manipulation of market prices. It is reported that Coinbit ranks behind Bithumb and Upbit and is the third largest exchange in South Korea. [Today's market analysis] Bitcoin (BTC)BTC dropped to 11262 USDT in the morning and afternoon, and then rebounded slightly. It is currently oscillating around 11350 USDT. Most mainstream currencies fell. BTC is currently reporting 11352.6 USDT on LOEX Global, a drop of 0.61% in 24h. Yesterday, BTC failed to initiate an effective rebound on the basis of standing at 11500. After a short rise to around 11650, it started a heavy decline in the market, and a large number of positions were sold for several hours until the early hours of this morning. The trend reached a strong support near 11000 and and gained a short-term stability. From the perspective of wave theory, since the currency price started the downward trend at 12,500, the 1-hour level is now coming out of the third wave of the three downward waves. Since the downward trend has only stabilized for a few hours, it is still unclear whether the third wave has passed. On the other hand, since 11000 is the strongest support since the currency price broke through 10500, it can also be regarded as the last line of defense in the bull market. If the market outlook continues to drop below this point, the probability means that the last wave of the three downward waves has not yet been reached. At the end, there may even be extended waves. On the other hand, if the intraday rebound can stand firm at 11400 or the second test of 11000 gains support again, it will increase the anticipation of bargaining to a certain extent, and a large number of shorts will turn to long. The market outlook says there is a possibility of testing to 12000. Investors need to pay attention to the effectiveness of the 11000 support and the 11400 resistance after the rebound starts. The price on the 26th moved below the three moving averages on the 5th, 10th, and 20th, and the price was relatively empty. If the 10-day moving average crosses the 20-day moving average, it will form a short position, which may trigger a further decline. Operation suggestions: Support level: the first support level is 11000 points, the second support level is 10400 integers; Resistance level: the first resistance level is 11400 points, the second resistance level is 12000 points. Stablecoin — A Crucial Element For Cryptocurrency Market
Despite the ups and downs of the cryptocurrency market this year, stablecoin has become the biggest winner in the first quarter of 2020. According to statistics from the media The Block, the transaction volume of stablecoins in the market surged in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 8% compared with the fourth quarter of last year, and exceeded the $90 billion mark for the first time in history. In contrast, the total transaction volume of stablecoins last year was $250 billion. https://preview.redd.it/94q7bfl7kl851.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e6443e43cdd9b3f01488cf74c563295ab5ebec1 What is stablecoin? One of the problems with cryptocurrencies is their volatility. As a digital asset that has no actual connection with the real world, cryptocurrencies have failed to gain the expected global recognition due to their volatility. The concept of stablecoin came into the picture to solve this issue and promote the mass adoption of cryptocurrency across the world. Stablecoin refers to a cryptocurrency with a financial value that is “pegged” to another currency, such as the US Dollar. Stablecoins allow users to buy, sell, and trade blockchain assets that mimic the prices of government-issued currencies. Stablecoin is a type of cryptocurrency with a lesser-volatile price when compared to other assets such as gold, fiat currencies, and other commodities. Stablecoin is currently being used in the crypto market to minimize risks during high stability periods in the market.
Types of Stablecoins
The following are the three types of stablecoins in the market.
This is the common form of stablecoins. Fiat-backed stablecoin are coins that are fully backed by fiat money. Fiat-backed stablecoins are backed 1:1, meaning $1 of stablecoins is equivalent to $1 of fiat money. The idea is that their stablecoin is ‘backed’ by real fiat in real bank accounts. This category of stablecoins is indeed the most simple but also the most centralized. 2. Commodity-backed stablecoin This category of stablecoins are backed by commodities. Commodities are fungible assets that are interchangeable for trading in the same market. The most common commodity to be collaterized is gold, which is a form of precious metals. 3. Cryptocurrency-backed stablecoin Crypto-Backed stablecoins are coins backed by other digital currencies, usually the top-ranked cryptocurrencies with large market capitalization such as Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH). Typically, crypto-backed coins are backed by a mix of cryptocurrencies rather than being backed by just a single currency. This allows for better risk distribution.
Advantages of Stablecoin
Stablecoin is digital, programmable and blockchain-based, so it has a series of advantages:
Being globally acceptable and useful is an advantage of cryptocurrency. Just like Bitcoin, stablecoins can also be traded over the Internet, regardless of country, bank or any type of intermediary agency.
Transaction processing fee has been costly for fiat and crypto. The conversion from fiat to crypto or vice versa has even higher charges. Stablecoin can help reduce these costs when the currency is converted to stablecoins to complete the transaction.
Faster Processing Speed
Processing financial and crypto transactions using stablecoins takes less time. Especially when traders need to convert fiat to crypto or vice versa, the time taken for the process is quite long. This can affect their investment as the prices change midway. By converting crypto to stablecoins, the process is simplified and also allows traders to complete the transaction before the price fluctuates again.
As stablecoins are traded on the blockchain network, full transparency is possible.
Use Cases for Stablecoin
Making Payments: By using stablecoins to make payments, people can save the amount spend on transaction charges, which are usually anything between 2%-3% or even more).
Trading Market: Stablecoins, especially the famous Tether, is already being fully utilized on the crypto exchanges to reduce the exposure of crypto before the traders fully cash out.
Escrow: Escrow is a financial agreement in which a third-party service provider is enlisted to hold the money/ paperwork for a short time until the transaction is finalized between the actual parties. Stablecoins have automated this process by providing the required stability.
Safety: Be it storage or time duration, stablecoins are a safe option for people who want to keep their investments safe over time and cannot save the investments in the bank.
Cross-border Remittances: Making cross-border payments has become easier with stablecoins. There is no need to worry about the changes in price after currency conversion and the additional charges one has to pay for international remittances.
Lending Advantage: Stablecoins are delivering a whopping 15% interest rate for debt investors in the market. No wonder many institutions are busy hiring the services of Stablecoin Development Company to build their exclusive stablecoins.
Employee Payroll: Nippon Yusen Kaisha, a Japanese shipping company, has first started using stablecoins to pay employee salaries in November 2018. This has made it easier for overseas employees to manage their finances.
24*7 Settlements: Settlements take time to be delivered due to the restrictions in the banking hours. Since stablecoins are operated on a blockchain network, they are active 24*7. The amount will immediately be reflected in the account of the receiver.
Decentralized: Stablecoins allow for a better-decentralized ecosystem when compared to cryptocurrency. This is due to the stability of the coin.
In sum, stablecoin is a crucial element for a dynamic cryptocurrency landscape. Advancing mainstream cryptocurrency adoption requires stablecoins to be a viable hedging mechanism in this highly volatile market. With national banks and financial institutions developing their stablecoins, we might see this digital asset slowly integrate the general market with the crypto market. Industry Insight shared by WaykiChain CEO, Gordon Gao
The opening of 2020 is very chaotic considering coronavirus broke out globally, all kinds of assets experienced significant shocks, oil price plummeted, gold prices suffered volatility, and US stocks experienced several trading curbs, etc and different kinds of epic Black swan event happened. What do you think about the influence of these unusual events towards DeFi?
I think it’s the best thing that can happen to DeFi. Because all these things help expose underlying problems, such as economic bubble, indiscriminate leverage, credit crisis, which can cause people to distrust the financial system. And DeFi is the revolution against the traditional financial system, it is a complete subversion. Paul Jones thinks that the government over issued currencies, so he needs to transit his assert to Bitcoin. Crisis means opportunity. The traditional financial system has long-existing problems. Most of the assets were made by capitalists, some in reasonable ways, while the others are simply robbery. But most of the people didn’t realize it. Henry Ford says, people don’t even know how our currencies and bank system works, which is good, since if they know, there will be a revolution before the next morning. Now all kinds of black swan events can make people aware of risks, and before the final risk comes, choose a more transparent and fair way to participate in finance.
Since this year, more and more public chains have begun to deploy the DeFi ecosystem. DeFi ecosystem has become an important direction for public chains to explore the landing of the blockchain this year. Can you analyze why the public chain has gathered to develop the DeFi ecosystem this year?
Most public chains have explored for a long time. Last year, many people said that the public chain industry was dead, but I feel that they just didn’t find the rigid demand for landing applications. Now everyone has begun to understand that DeFi is the best way out of the public chain. WaykiChain started to develop the first product of DeFi in March last year-The stablecoin and collateral loan agreement (WaykiCDP). However, it was not popularly called as DeFi at that time. Now, what we start with is to find a rigid-demanded scenario for the blockchain landing, and shorten the user’s path to enter into ecology. In this circle, most of the people are speculators and investors who hold two big needs of borrowing and making money, and DeFi is doing this business. From another perspective, the emergence of Bitcoin has created a new currency, and the role of public chains and smart contracts is to allow the currency to circulate under certain rules. Isn’t this just finance? In other words, if blockchain can’t even do finance, then it is just a scam.
can you explain to us the status and scale of the DeFi market nowadays?
The size of the DeFi industry can be roughly measured by the value of lock-up. Ethereum, as the largest DeFi platform at present, occupies most of the market share. Now the lock-up value on Ethereum is around USD 1 billion. Since last year, other public chains have started to have DeFi applications, including WaykiChain, cosmos, Polkadot, TRON, etc. The current DeFi scale on WaykiChain is not as good as Ethereum in terms of absolute volume, but in terms of the proportion of DeFi locks, WaykiChain definitely has the highest proportion so far, reaching the total of 17%. In terms of absolute volume, only niche players in the currency circle participate in DeFi, but DeFi has maintained market growth in the past two years, and the amount of lock-up positions has risen sharply, so the entire market still has a lot of room for each project party to explore.
compared to Bitcoin mining, DeFi is obviously more decentralized and suitable to the public. From a broad aspect, what advantage do you think DeFi has when compared to traditional finance, and what is the meaning of it towards the finance industry?
I like this question, so I will spend more time explaining it. I think the difference of DeFi can be shown in 3 points: DeFi can change the role people play in the financial system. In traditional finance, as an ordinary user, your role and participation process are very limited. However, this limitation is determined by all aspects, such as the credit problem, the threshold of the number of funds, as well as the license and the threshold of power, and so on. Such limitations often make ordinary users vulnerable groups in the financial system. And under the rules of the top class, wealth will always flow to the top. For example, global currencies have been issued continuously, have we participated in the decision? No. Has it been issued to individuals? No. We can only see that the world keeps issuing money, and the money in our hands is depreciating, while there is nothing we can do. But DeFi is different. Let me give an example. WaykiChain DeFi's governance coin WGRT, the holder has both the power of governance parameters and the benefits of the interest and penalty of the entire system. This is a role you cannot play in traditional finance. In DeFi system, it is full of fairness. DeFi can reduce financial costs. Since the beginning of the industrial era, the global financial structure has remained unchanged, relying heavily on various intermediate institutions. Central banks, investment banks, commercial banks, securities companies, etc. It can be said that any financial activity needs to have more than one intermediary profit from it. For example, in addition to the loss of the price difference of a transaction, a transaction also includes brokerage commissions, exchange transaction fees, stamp duties of regulatory authorities, etc. The price difference earned by these so-called "middlemen" makes them the richest class in the world. However, DeFi adopts an open protocol and provides low-cost financial services for everyone at low cost, which greatly reduces the cost of transactions. DeFi can improve the efficiency of finance. Blockchain enables financial transactions to achieve transaction settlement. It has gone beyond the traditional settlement system of financial institutions. When it comes to cross-border transactions. In terms of the transfer, a cross-border transfer can sometimes take several days, but in the blockchain system or DeFi system, the actual ownership of assets has changed when the transaction occurs. There’s one more point that I want to mention that is DeFi can derive something that traditional finance doesn’t have. For example, the constant product market maker is an innovative product in the field of DeFi. We believe that DeFi can not only improve and improve the original traditional finance but also have more innovations to be discovered. The CTO of our team wrote such a sentence in the introduction of WaykiChain code: “the only limitation of the blockchain is our imagination.”
At present, there is a strange situation in the industry. When asked DeFi, many people said they know it. But when it comes to the question of who invest it, everyone said they didn’t. What do you think is the reason for this situation? Where are the potential users of DeFi?
There should still be some people who have invested in the DeFi project. This year's link, knc, and mkr are all DeFi concepts, and they all have good market performance, including WaykiChain is also a DeFi concept, and our community is not small. It's just that few people are using DeFi products. In fact, not only a few people use DeFi products, but also fewer people who put coins in wallets to play any application in addition to the use of exchanges to speculate coins in the currency circle. For example, I got data before that showed only 14,000 people on Ethereum participate in DeFi. DeFi currently lacks a popular hit, like Dapp's ethernet cat, fomo3D, which can mobilize the market's passion at once. WaykiChain will release a DeFi product called Wayki-X in the second half of this year. Concerning synthetic asset transactions, we are confident that this product will become a hot issue. The first-level potential users of DeFi are users of public chain tokens, especially for collateral-type DeFi applications. For example, users who hold ETH are potential users of DeFi on Ethereum. Only if I look high on ETH, I will collateral ETH for various other financial activities. The same is true for WaykiChain. So if most of the non-DeFi public chains are removed, and most Bitcoin holders, this first-level potential user is still very limited. The second-level potential users are DeFi participants, such as participating in DEX transactions, or using other assets to purchase DeFi stable coins for investment and so on. The third-level potential users are some users outside the circle. They will take advantage of income opportunities, such as wealth management and other applications to come in contact with DeFi. This most extensive market has not been well developed. Ethereum already has an integrated DeFi ecosystem, and there are plenty of branches on it, plus a lot of public chains have poured into the DeFi track this year. However, the current scale of DeFi users is still small, and many people are worried that so many public chains are pouring into the DeFi track, but the market can’t digest so many DeFi products, thus they may finally be of varying quality. Are you worried about this problem? I am not worried. First of all, the advantage of Ethereum is not that great. The DeFi ecosystem on Ethereum can be said to be in full bloom, but it is not integrated. In addition, Ethereum now establishes DeFi in a savage way of development. I feel that it is just a child who plays on the beach and cannot build a skyscraper. The financial system needs to be framed, at least the asset standards should be unified, the pricing unit should be unified, and the liquidity measurement standards should be unified. DeFi on Ethereum does not have all these uniformities above, so many problems have arisen this year. Although the single-module product looks fine, once it comes to the “interoperability” that DeFi on Ethereum is proud of, three particularly serious security incidents occurred. Another thing is that if users want to use DeFi on Ethereum completely, they have to cross many products, and each time they exchange currency, they must bear the loss of the price difference, which will disperse the liquidity of DeFi. WaykiChain’s thinking is different from that of Ethereum. What WaykiChain wants to do is an integrated DeFi public chain, which means that we will unify the currency, unify the standard of asset release, unify the valuation unit, and unify the liquidity. Based on those preconditions, then smart contracts use imagination to build more products, and ultimately provide users with a one-stop DeFi experience. The market covered by DeFi is huge, so we don’t worry about competition. If you introduce 1% of Bitcoin’s market value to any public chain, it is enough to support a very large DeFi project, not to mention the introduction of traditional assets in the future.
How do you view DeFi’s development prospects and future market scale? Where do you think the ceiling for DeFi development is?
In the near term, although DeFi’s volume has developed rapidly, it is still very small. The current market value of the digital currency is about more than 270 billion US dollars, but the collateral in the DeFi agreement is only 1 billion US dollars. I think it will reach 20 billion US dollars in two years. It can be seen that the future market is still very broad. In addition to the need to compete for the Bitcoin market, mature public chains are also a development idea for DeFi empowerment of other public chains. For the ceiling of DeFi development, it is not yet seen now, but the first bottleneck that may be encountered is how to release off-chain assets to the blockchain to expand the overall DeFi market cap.
WGRT has set a strict risk control mechanism in terms of safety, convenience, and risk reserve. Such a professional and rigorous team believes that in the near future, it will present a different DeFi ecosystem to everyone. According to some latest data, there are more than 4,000 bitcoins locked in the DeFi ecosystem. What do you think is the reason that BTC has poured into the DeFi battlefield in large numbers? Will this set off a new round of DeFi boom?
The BTC market is the most attractive part of DeFi. Let me explain a few things. 1.For BTC currency holders, these people are optimistic about BTC for a long time, but when they lack liquidity at hand, they need a loan agreement to help them get some cash. However, the centralized financial platform has various security risks, such as asset theft, asset misappropriation, or platform running. Some money holders who pay special attention to security will choose the DeFi protocol.
In terms of DeFi projects, the market value and volume of BTC is the largest, so whoever can occupy the BTC market will become a giant.
For the DeFi market, BTC itself does not have programmability, so any other public chain needs to do a cross-chain protocol to introduce BTC, so the largest market provides the most fair competition environment. WaykiChain introduced a decentralized cross-chain mechanism in the upcoming public chain version 3.0. After going online, users can collateral BTC or ETH to generate stablecoin. At the same time, the interest paid by users, as well as the penalties that are cleared in the middle, are also to be repurchased for the destruction of WGRT.
WaykiChain's DeFi lockup volume actually reached 17% of the total, and it is expected to break new highs next. Gordon, what form and changes do you think the DeFi market will develop in the future? How should WaykiChain seize market opportunities?
First, the form of products will be more diversified, and many innovative products will appear. Second, the product will be more professional and have a better experience, while providing one-stop financial services. This is the direction that WaykiChain is currently doing. Third, the DeFi on the public chain will expand through cross-chain. For example, as mentioned earlier, the DeFi on the public chain will compete for the Bitcoin market. However, in addition to competing for the Bitcoin market, the market for more small currencies cannot be ignored. We will also try to use the WaykiChain DeFi system to empower other small currencies or public chains. So that their currency users can also enjoy the financial services brought by DeFi. This market has not yet been explored.
What plans does WGRT follow?
We want to build the world's first integrated DeFi public chain. The development of WGRT is inseparable from the promotion and use of stablecoin WUSD. Therefore, our follow-up plan is mainly to build more products around the stable currency system to empower WUSD. At the end of July this year and early August, we will launch a new product called WaykiX, which is a synthetic asset trading platform that can trade almost all types of assets in the world. After that, we will also launch WUSD financial management, so that the currency holders can enjoy a fixed income. At the same time, we will also develop asset securitization business, and publish some high-quality asset targets on WaykiChain, such as Vietnam real estate, European and American government bonds, etc., while expanding the volume of DeFi assets on WaykiChain, to the community more Investment opportunities.
Is there any plan after WGRT listed on OKEx?
Yes, I will answer in terms of two levels, the first level is the ecological level, and the second level is the level of the entire coin itself. From an ecological perspective, the quality of WGRT depends on the entire stablecoin system, and whether more people can use it. The stablecoin WUSD develops well, so the whole WGRT becomes the biggest beneficiary. In fact, the series of DeFi products we created later are all based on the stablecoin WUSD, such as the Wayki-X synthetic asset trading platform. After the Wayki-X synthetic asset trading platform is launched at the end of July and early August, the market will have a lot of demand for WICC. We will also use this platform as a fist product of this year to promote, so as to ensure the benefit of the entire WGRT. In addition, the real estate in Vietnam and the national debt in Europe are based on financial products issued by WUSD, and they will also promote the development of WGRT. The WGRT coin will be launched on OKEx, and then some high-quality second-tier exchanges will be listed to enhance its liquidity. When the liquidity is sufficient, we will also impact other first-tier exchanges, including domestic first-tier and international first-tier exchanges.
Building the infrastructure for the Bitcoin Standard in Canada before the collapse of fiat currencies is the critical mission objective that drives innovation at Bull Bitcoin. We are very excited to announce an important milestone in fulfilling this duty: the public release of Liquid CAD, our newest product designed to accelerate and facilitate the adoption of Bitcoin. Liquid CAD is a non-custodial prepaid payment system denominated in Canadian dollars. Units of Liquid CAD (L-CAD) consist of vouchers issued on the Liquid Network as confidential bearer assets that can be transacted peer-to-peer using a Liquid wallet. Users acquire Liquid CAD by withdrawing their account balance out of Bull Bitcoin, by purchasing Liquid CAD with Bitcoin on Bull Bitcoin, by using the Liquid CAD withdrawal method on other Bitcoin liquidity providers such as Aquanow or by accepting L-CAD as method of payment.
L-CAD assets can only be redeemed for Bitcoin. They cannot be redeemed for a fiat currency payment.
Liquid CAD is a unique project rethinking the concept of fiat-pegged assets, avoiding the banking business model of “fiatcoin” (aka stablecoins) in favor of a prepaid payments model entirely centred around Bitcoin on-ramp and off-ramp. Liquid CAD is not a currency, nor is it a security: it is a prepaid card. Importantly, the business model of Liquid CAD is not to collect interest on funds in our custody, unlike fiatcoins, but rather to drive the sales of Bitcoin from which we derive our revenue and we benefit from Liquid CAD assets being cashed out and thus removed from our balance sheet. Bull Bitcoin does not get any revenue from interest. Every time an L-CAD token is purchased by a user, the amount of dollars deposited on Bull Bitcoin is guaranteed to one day be used by someone to purchase Bitcoin. It’s a one-way street: once a unit of fiat is tokenized as L-CAD, it’s never going back to its off-chain fiat form and will ultimately result in a buy order on a Bitcoin trading platform. The Liquid CAD logo is a drop of blood because our objective is to accelerate “fiat bleed”, a phenomenon best described by Pierre Rochard in his magnificent essay Speculative Attack:
“Bitcoin will not be eagerly adopted by the mainstream, it will be forced upon them. Forced, as in “compelled by economic reality”. People will be forced to pay with bitcoins, not because of ‘the technology’, but because no one will accept their worthless fiat for payments. Contrary to popular belief, good money drives out bad. This “driving out” has started as a small fiat bleed. It will rapidly escalate into Class IV hemorrhaging due to speculative attacks on weak fiat currencies. The end result will be hyperbitcoinization, i.e. “your money is no good here. Bitcoins are not just good money, they are the best money. The Bitcoin network has the best monetary policy and the best brand. We should therefore expect that bitcoins will drive out bad, weak currencies. My own prediction is that slow bleed has been accelerating and is only the first step. The second step will be speculative attacks that use bitcoins as a platform. The third and final step will be hyperbitcoinization.”
Different representations of Canadian dollars compete to be used as payment methods (cash, bank balances, PayPal balances, closed-loop prepaid cards, open-loop prepaid cards, etc.) and that the winner will be the one that has the best Bitcoin saleability, i.e. which can be most easily sold for Bitcoin at a moment’s notice. We’re very proud to provide this alternative payment method to Canadians in a time where the banking system is falling deeper into crisis, especially as the Canadian dollar is demonstrating itself to be one of the most pointless and weakest currencies that nobody really wants to hold. Finally, we’re very happy to be partnering with Aquanow, our recommended institutional liquidity provider for high-volume BTC-CAD trading. They will accept Liquid CAD deposits and withdrawals as being interchangeable with Canadian dollars. We hope that Liquid CAD will become the standard representation of Canadian dollar value among Canadian Bitcoin users.
Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) integration
In addition to Liquid CAD, Bull Bitcoin is also announcing that Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) payments are now supported interchangeably with Bitcoin transactions for all Bull Bitcoin services. This means that our users can buy, sell and spend L-BTC instead of BTC. Canadian Bitcoin traders can purchase L-BTC from BullBitcoin.com and fund their international trading accounts with L-BTC using ultra fast and cheap confidential transactions. They can also cash-out their Bitcoin balance as L-BTC from these platforms and sell those L-BTC for fiat on Bylls.com, avoiding risky and expensive international wire transfers to unknown and untrusted foreign banks. The transactional benefits of L-BTC are very potent:
Transaction amounts are hidden, in compliance with Canada’s strict privacy protection laws
Observers cannot tell whether the transaction is L-BTC or any other asset
Confirmation times are 1 minute
Transaction fees are very low (< 0.05$)
Disclaimer: Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) is not the same as Bitcoin (BTC). L-BTC Liquid Network assets are IOUs for Bitcoin held in a multisignature contract by the Liquid Network federation. The custody of the underlying Bitcoin is managed by a decentralized network of 15 members which process transactions and withdrawals from the multisignature contract according to the Liquid Federation protocol rules.
Liquid CAD detailed overview
Peer-to-peer prepaid payments by Bull Bitcoin
Liquid CAD is a non-custodial prepaid payment system denominated in Canadian dollars. Units of Liquid CAD (L-CAD) consist of vouchers issued on the Liquid Network as confidential bearer assets that can be transacted peer-to-peer using a Liquid wallet. Users acquire Liquid CAD by withdrawing their account balance out of the Bull Bitcoin, by purchasing Liquid CAD with Bitcoin on Bull Bitcoin, by using the Liquid CAD withdrawal method on other Bitcoin liquidity providers such as Aquanow or by accepting L-CAD as method of payment.
A new payment method in Canada
Liquid CAD can be used by anyone to send and receive payments denominated in Canadian dollars. Because of the permissionless nature of the Liquid Network, Bull Bitcoin cannot prevent Liquid CAD from being traded on secondary markets. Merchants, individuals and institutions must accept that only Bull Bitcoin can guarantee redemption of the L-CAD and that this redemption will be exclusively paid out in Bitcoin. Accepting Liquid CAD as payment is, in effect, the same as accepting gift cards as payment. However, Bitcoin being the most liquid commodity on the market, it can be transformed into any other currency easily for example using services such a Bylls which allow Canadians to pay all their utility bills, send bank transfers to third parties or sell Bitcoin to their bank account.
Making Canadian dollars bleed into Bitcoin
The purpose of Liquid CAD is to facilitate the transfer fiat in the context of the purchase and sale of Bitcoin and providing innovative new services that help Bitcoin users hedge the value of Canadian dollars against Bitcoin in the context of their commercial transactions. Our goal is to create a payment method that is specifically targeting Bitcoin users that wish to liquidate Canadian dollar payments for Bitcoin. Our mission is to accelerate the phenomenon known as “fiat bleed” whereby Canadians will gradually abandon inferior money (such as the Canadian dollar) for the superior Bitcoin alternative. Every Liquid CAD issued will ultimately be exchanged into Bitcoin. We are excited for the day Liquid CAD will be made obsolete by the inevitable hyperbitcoinization of the Canadian economy.
Like all other closed-loop prepaid instruments, Liquid CAD has counterparty risk. The owners are trusting that they will eventually be able to use Liquid CAD as a payment method on the Bull Bitcoin platform to fund their account and purchase Bitcoin. When a Bull Bitcoin user withdraws his Bull Bitcoin account balance as an L-CAD token, the Canadian dollars he used to fund this balance remains in our possession in the same manner as regular Bull Bitcoin vouchers. These funds are used to execute Bitcoin purchases when L-CAD owners decide to redeem their L-CAD for Bitcoin. In essence, each L-CAD is “backed” by the Canadian dollar deposit of the user that withdraws it from the platform in the first place.
Benefits of using and accepting Liquid CAD for payments
Irreversible, non-custodial and no bank required
Liquid CAD payments cannot be charged back, cancelled, delayed or frozen. There is no intermediary between the sender and the recipient. It is a bearer asset: whoever owns the keys owns the coins. It is a perfect way to accept payments or transact securely without depending on banks and payment processors. Canadians can use Liquid CAD to purchase Bitcoin and then use Bylls.com to pay billers, personal payees or simply sell Bitcoin to their bank account.
Fast transaction and cheap fees
Liquid Network transactions are sent and received instantly and require 1 minute for settlement. Transaction fees paid using Liquid Bitcoin can be as low as 300 satoshis per transaction (a few cents). In order to benefit from these cheap fees, make sure to download the latest version of the Elements software and ensure that the minimum transaction fee is set at 100 satoshis per kilobye. It only takes a few minutes to set up a free Liquid Network wallet, such a Green Wallet by blockstream.
Unlike Bitcoin, transactions between the sender and the recipient are encrypted. It is impossible for third parties observing Liquid CAD transactions on a block explorer to determine the amount of the transaction. In addition, it’s also impossible to even know you are using Liquid CAD, since the data identifying the asset itself is also encrypted!
What are the use-cases of Liquid CAD?
Buying and selling Bitcoin
The primary use-case of Liquid CAD is to make it easier to buy and sell Bitcoin on the Bull Bitcoin platform. By withdrawing their balance from Bull Bitcoin, users are reducing some (but not all) of the custody risk associated with keeping fiat currency on an exchange. For example, use Liquid CAD to create your own non-custodial dollar-cost-averaging schedule!
Onboarding new Bitcoin users
New users can be overwhelmed by the experience of dealing with banks to buy Bitcoin (and the heavier KYC process of account funding). You may be tempted to buy Bitcoin for them, but that will impose a lot of burdens on you. It’s much easier to set them up with a Green wallet, send them Liquid CAD and show them how to use Bull Bitcoin! They decide when is the right time for them to invest, with a lower KYC burden.
Hedging Bitcoin price
You may believe the price of Bitcoin will go down in the short term, but you still want to hold Bitcoin in the long term. Normally you have two options: short the Bitcoin price (very risky!) or sell your Bitcoin and receive Canadian dollars in your bank account (inconvenient!). By selling your Bitcoin for Liquid CAD, you can lock in the value of Bitcoin right now and buy them back later without needing to use your bank account or taking risks with leverage.
As a merchant, you want to receive the settlement of payments in Bitcoin. But this imposes a burden on your customers, which have to deal with the Bitcoin price volatility when they are paying you. Ask your clients to pay you with Liquid CAD, and you can get the settlement with Bitcoin on your own terms.
Payroll and suppliers
What if your staff or suppliers want to get paid in Bitcoin? It can be very difficult, because this means you are effectively buying Bitcoin on their behalf. Instead, you can pay them in Liquid CAD and let them deal with the process of choosing the exchange rate and using their own wallet. Let them deal with the tax burden, exchange rates and Bitcoin wallet security.
List of Bull Bitcoin Liquid Network features
Withdraw account balance as L-CAD
This is conceptually the same as “buying” Liquid CAD with your account balance. We call it “Withdrawing L-CAD” because on the Bull Bitcoin platform, we consider L-CAD and CAD to be interchangeable and fungible.
Fund account balance with L-CAD
To redeem Liquid CAD for Bitcoin, users need to first fund their account by selecting the “Deposit L-CAD” payment method. Bull Bitcoin users must always fund their account first before buying Bitcoin, and then purchase Bitcoin with their account balances. Reminder: account balances cannot be withdraw as fiat payments, but can later be withdrawn again as L-CAD.
Sell Bitcoin for L-CAD
You can sell Bitcoin and receive Liquid CAD payments instead of a bill payment, personal payee payment or bank payment. As soon as the Bitcoin transaction is confirmed, the Liquid CAD transaction is sent to the address you provided.
Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC) and Bitcoin interchangeability
For every service which involves a Bitcoin payment, the user can substitute traditional Bitcoin payments for Liquid Bitcoin payments. This includes:
Proof-of-work in colonial Maryland: Burning tobacco for paper money, burning electricity for $BTC
The colonists established their first settlement in Maryland in 1634. Lord Baltimore urged them to develop a diversified economy of farming, lumbering, fishing, mining, and more. But the lure of profits from growing tobacco was too hard to resist. Tobacco shaped colonial life and tobacco became so important it became money. Items were bought and debts were settled in pounds of tobacco, and Maryland designated it as the official medium of exchange in 1637. This was partly due to a severe shortage of coinage in England, which affected American settlements.
“The most widespread use of commodity money was tobacco, which served as money in Virginia. The pound-of-tobacco was the currency unit in Virginia, with warehouse receipts in tobacco circulating as money backed 100 percent by the tobacco in the warehouse.”
Murray Rothbard, A History of Money and Banking in the United States: The Colonial Era to World War II But having tobacco as the primary engine of the Maryland economy led to some problems. The slightest change in tobacco prices in England or Europe had a great impact on their lives. Boom times and depressions happened often during the 17th and 18th centuries. The export of British currency and the establishment of colonial mints were prohibited by English Law at the time. This led to currency shortages were common in Maryland and merchants often paid British firms with bills of exchange. Until legislative action in 1747, tobacco-for-bills was frequently used as the internal trading economy. In order to replace the then-current use of tobacco as money, each taxpayer was to be given 30s in notes in return for burning 150 pounds of tobacco.
The first Maryland issue
The notes were to be redeemed by the loan office starting in 1748 with profits realized through investments made in Bank of England stock. Shortly after, they transitioned to paper money. In this system, there was a continuing problem of farmers increasing their quantity of money by growing more tobacco. Vigilante squads got created. They roamed the countryside burning tobacco fields. All to keep the amount of tobacco under control: The money supply was controlled by burning tobacco grown by farmers.
Over to Bitcoin.
Bitcoin burns through a lot of electricity to maintain its network. It currently consumes approximately 7–8 gigawatts of power. This is around~$9 million per day of energy at a marginal cost of 5 cents per kWh. The bitcoin network consumes as much power as approximately 6 million homes. This is based on national averages in the U.S. In the “Gradually, then suddenly” series, Parker Lewis explains something interesting: “economic stability depends on the function of money and bitcoin provides a more sound monetary framework which is why there is no more important long-term use of energy than securing the bitcoin network.” The main difference with the tobacco economy is that the bitcoin network does not arbitrarily burn through energy. It’s done mathematically. Proving that energy production is vital to the functioning of our society. Some energy input is required for everything that we consume in our daily lives.
The coordination of those energy inputs is dependent on the reliability and stability of the money we use. — Parker Lewis
A fraction of all the computing power on the Bitcoin network is on these shelves. (image: EEE Spectrum) But Bitcoin doesn’t care. It consumes all necessary energy in the free market to secure its monetary network. The more people that value the long-term stability it provides, the more energy it will consume. This consumption makes sure all other derivatives of energy consumption fulfills. Much like Maryland’s tobacco economy 350 years ago. That’s why there’s no other long-term use of energy more important than securing the bitcoin network. (if you enjoyed this post you will love this newsletter. In the fall of 2019, on behalf of the state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA, the Central Bank of Venezuela conducted internal tests to determine if it can store cryptocurrencies in its chests. PDVSA wishes to send settlements with sellers. Oil companies must decide an authorized business. We could find financial sources. And already in mid-May, PDVSA are selling about 150 bitcoins from their stocks. The non-state company AIPCP, whose main profile is capital insurance, sells bitcoins in exchange for the stablecoin Paxos. It is noteworthy that the amount of ~ 150 bitcoins (at a rate of $ 9000-10000 in mid-May) is very insignificant for a state corporation. However, by visiting the AIPCP website, you can experience mixed feelings: from enthusiasm to confusion. The price is for bitcoin.
Why Monero will be outlawed by western nations and why it wont matter
Hello again freinds. I've broken a few stories with some reddit posts in the past and I felt like we are finally reaching the point where my prediction almost 2 years ago that Monero will be outlawed in western countries is starting to come to fruition. Several exchanges have recently delisted Monero for being "too private," but this decision has nothing to do with the preferences of those exchanges. The delistings are caused by the whims of a group of international organizations that ultimately operate in the interest of an alliance of countries called NATO. About NATO NATO has maintained its dominance in the world's power structures for over 70 years due to many factors, but one of the predominant prevailing factors is its control of the world's financial systems. Around the founding of NATO, humanity developed a new weapon called The Sanction which has been the most powerful weapon produced in many ages. It among many things toppled the nuclear super power USSR without firing a shot, but probably indirectly killed millions or perhaps hundreds of millions of people. The Sanction is an attack on a country's markets' liquidity. Decreased liquidity increases the spread on prices of goods (the difference between a taker's price and an asker's price in a trade) and causes shocks to markets that ultimately cause recessions and depressions. Modern financial systems enable extremely high liquidity, and when they are taken away, liquidity is orders of magnitude lower. Why does NATO care? One of the primary reasons the international organizations that align with NATO are worried about cryptocurrency is its ability to be a back door around sanctions. If they were used in this way, they could potentially rewrite the power structures of the world. The largest example of how crypto is being used as a back door on a large scale right now is in an independently governed area in Georgia called Abkhazia. Abkhazia amounts to a Russian puppet nation, and currently is one of the biggest mining areas in the world. The reason for this is it is a Russian money laundering hub. The way it works is Russia sells gas to Abkhazia with an unlimited line of credit, Abkhazia doesn't pay a dime of that credit, cryptocurrency is mined with the power from that gas, and those cryptos are then sold for western currency by Russian-aligned companies. This operation in Abkhazia is an example of the primary reason there is international backing to hamper cryptocurrency and especially privacy coins. It all revolves around the battle to break the viability of sanctions so these countries can operate without that tool (I would call it a weapon) being part of the leverage against them. One thing to watch for is any jargon speaking about "Anti-terrorism." "Anti-terrorism reform" actually means "Pro-NATO reform." These efforts are not really a bad thing if you live in NATO countries. They will keep you wealthier for now. However, they come at the direct expense of the other side's welfare (the other side being most countries outside of NATO). Why does Bitcoin get a pass? Bitcoin is not an issue for the west because the west will eventually track the identity of all the owners of "patriated" coins in existence, most of which will be in custodial addresses with no direct customer access. You can already see an example of how custodial bitcoin ownership is already prevalent with The Cash App and Robinhood's "Buy Bitcoin" investment features. Eventually these apps may add receive and send functionality to bitcoin, but it will be a centralized layer 2 system that only allows you to send to KYC-screened recipients. In the future, there will be two varieties of Bitcoin according the western financial system: "patriated" coins where their history and identities are known, and a series of rules are followed in sending and receiving; and "unpatriated" or "wild" bitcoins that have anonymous or "bad actor" owners. This separation will allow the same sanctions to be performed in bitcoin as in the existing financial system. Monero has no place in the future of the western financial system because it can not be sanctioned because it is the most fungible value transfer system in existence. This is also ultimately why I am extremely bullish for Monero. Why does it not matter what the west does regarding Monero? Ultimately fighting against the "wild" coins -- ones with no owners or centralization -- will be fruitless for NATO because the nations that stand the most to gain from reducing the power of a sanction are already building their own financial infrastructure in a coordinated way. The most interesting development in my opinion is a new effort by the "BRICS" -- Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to develop a cryptocurrency for international settlements: https://cointelegraph.com/news/brics-nations-discuss-shared-crypto-to-break-away-from-usd-and-swift When you consider that it is much cheaper to build a cryptocurrency than to build the banks, customer support, and auditing infrastructures of the dinosaur that is NATO's financial system, their decision to invest in a cryptocurrency makes a lot of sense. Make no mistake that this "BRICS Crypto" is no panacea; it will be designed in the best interests of the nations not of the people. However, it is a great example of how NATO fighting cryptocurrency is fruitless. The reign of the Western Sanction will disappear in the next 10 years and the structure of power in the world will be stirred dramatically, and probably with considerable hardship for average people. Why am I bullish on Monero? I believe in the event any dramatic shift in power happens, that Monero is the most suitable currency for any people who "fall through the cracks" -- whether they be people in war torn areas, oppressed minorities, or simply those in poverty. If there is any shock to the western currencies, we already know how crypto is a suitable replacement. I believe Monero is the most suitable crypto for this type of use case.
